“I’m proud to be part of RHICS not only because of the high level of the scientific contribution but because I strongly feel that Professor Hetzer deserves recognition as one of the most important leaders in Cardiac Surgery”.

„I enjoyed working with and under Professor Hetzer for many years. It was just a natural reflex to structure a podium to stay in contact with him in continuity. In addition to this the founding activists of the Roland Hetzer International Cardiovascular Surgical Society ( RHICS ) wanted to share thoughts and experience with him and the community of friends and colleagues, he gathered and inspired during his time at the German Heart Institute in Berlin, now distributed all over the world. As I had the privilege of being the first president of the RHICS , and continously for 8 years, I was very close to the proceedings of this prestigious society. We met on a substantial number of different occasions and locations on various continents. The RHICS Forum gave us the platform for many scientific meetings of high value and interactions. The papers generated from the presentations of the Fora could be published internationally with an impact factor. Thus, the RHICS proved to be a very successful amendment to the international cardiovascular community. I am looking forward to many more meetings. „
